What is Youth Skills Day 2025?

Every year on July 15th, the United Nations commemorates World Youth Skills Day, a day dedicated to showcasing the importance of vocational and technical education in equipping young people for employment and entrepreneurship. This initiative began in 2014, with its first official observation in 2015.

For 2025, the theme is linked to “Youth empowerment through AI and digital skills.”

Why This Theme Matters

At GLP Training, we’re seeing first-hand how the rise of artificial intelligence and digital technology (often referred to as the Fourth Industrial Revolution) is transforming the world of work. These tools are reshaping industries, creating new job roles, and changing how people learn, communicate, and grow.

As a training provider, we know how vital it is to equip young people with the skills they need to succeed in this new digital age. From business development to project management, we embed up-to-date, real-world digital skills into all of our apprenticeship programmes.

Goals of Youth Skills Day 2025

This global initiative is about more than just raising awareness. It’s a call to action to:

  • Close the digital divide and ensure every young person has access to quality training and learning opportunities.

  • Empower learners with practical skills in digital tools, AI, data, and emerging tech.

  • Support training providers and educators to modernise their delivery with innovative teaching methods.

  • Inspire young people to take ownership of their personal and professional development.

How We Support This Vision

We believe that high-quality, engaging education should be accessible to everyone. Through our Level 2 to Level 5 programmes, digital-first learning platforms, and focus on employer-led training, we’re helping thousands of learners develop the confidence, skills, and qualifications needed for long-term success.

Here’s how we align with the goals of Youth Skills Day 2025:

  • We blend digital with practical learning, preparing learners for both today’s and tomorrow’s job markets.

  • Our apprenticeships are built around employer needs, making skills training relevant and job-ready.

  • We provide ongoing wellbeing support, because personal growth is just as important as professional development.

  • We integrate emerging technologies like AI and VR into our learning approach. Using tools such as Synthesia or Virtual Workshops to create engaging content that brings learning to life.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you’re a learner, employer, or simply passionate about education, here are a few ways to mark Youth Skills Day:

  • Explore one of our apprenticeship programmes and develop your digital skills while earning and learning.

  • Attend a skills workshop or event, either locally or online.

  • Share your success story — how has digital learning helped you? Inspire others by celebrating your journey.

  • Follow along on social media to see how everyone is getting involved this year.

Final Thoughts

Youth Skills Day 2025 is more than a celebration, it’s a reminder of the power of learning and the importance of future-ready skills. At GLP Training, we’re proud to be part of that journey.

We believe that with the right support, every learner can thrive and we’re committed to continuing our mission of empowering the next generation through high-quality, inclusive, and forward-thinking training.
