To attain the qualification, you will undergo an assessment throughout your apprenticeship, culminating into a final evaluation known as the End Point Assessment (EPA), which can get you a result of a Pass, Distinction, or Fail.
Moreover, the apprentice must have completed the following requirement prior to beginning their EPA:
Obtain a Functional Skills Qualification (if applicable).
End Point Assessment Gateway:
The Building Services Engineering EPA is administered by The Building Engineering Services Association, our designated End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO).
The employer must be satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at, or above, the level of the occupational standard.
Apprentices must complete the following before beginning their EPA in the standard:
The apprentice must submit a portfolio of evidence.
The apprentice must submit the gateway evidence to their EPAO, including any organisation specific policies and procedures.
End Point Assessment:
EPA's typically take about 3 months and apprentices are required to complete:
Multiple Choice Test: The apprentice answers questions in a controlled and invigilated environment. It gives them the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge mapped to this assessment method.
Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence: An assessor asks the apprentice questions. It gives the apprentice the chance to demonstrate the right KSB's. The apprentice can refer to their answers with evidence from their portfolio of evidence.
Observation with a professional discussion: An assessor observes the apprentice in their normal working conditions and asks relevant questions. It gives the apprentice the opportunity to demonstrate the KSBs mapped to this assessment method.
The combined score of these methods will provide an overall final grade for the apprenticeship.
