The Operations Team Leader Programme combines the Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship with the Level 3 CMI Certificate in First Line Management & Leadership, creating a well-rounded development programme for individuals responsible for operational delivery and team support.
This programme equips learners with the skills needed to manage business processes, improve efficiency, and support organisational performance. Apprentices will develop a strong understanding of business operations, communication, and administrative systems, while also building the leadership capability required to guide teams, manage workloads, and contribute to organisational success.
Learners will gain practical experience in coordinating day-to-day activities, improving processes, and supporting stakeholders, alongside developing the confidence to lead people, manage performance, and drive results in a fast-paced operational environment.
This course is suitable for current or aspiring administrators, coordinators, supervisors, and team leaders who are responsible for supporting operations and contributing to business performance.

This includes
- Monthly 1-to-1 meetings (approx. 2 hours) with a GLP Trainer, either face-to-face or virtually
- Online learning modules and group sessions
- Building an electronic portfolio of work-based evidence
- Maths and English Functional Skills (if necessary). Please click here to learn more.
- Around 6 hours per week dedicated to apprenticeship activities
- Final assessment by an external examiner, comprising a resourcing project assignment and a professional discussion to complete the qualification
Assessment
To achieve the qualification — graded as Pass, Distinction, or Fail — you will be assessed throughout your apprenticeship and during a final stage assessment.
The Apprenticeship Assessment period begins only when your employer confirms that you are consistently performing at or above the level required by the occupational standard. The assessment, typically lasting around three months and conducted by Highfield, consists of two key components:
- Professional Discussion Underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence: Throughout your apprenticeship, you will compile a portfolio that evidences your learning and achievements. This portfolio will form the basis for a structured professional discussion with an assessor, allowing you to demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
- Project Proposal, Presentation, and Questioning: You will develop and present a project proposal that addresses a real business need and showcases your application of the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) acquired during the programme. This is followed by a Q&A session to further assess your understanding and rationale.
Your final apprenticeship grade will be determined by the combined outcomes of these two assessment methods.
