To achieve the qualification — graded Distinction, Pass, or Fail — you will be assessed throughout the apprenticeship, culminating in a final assessment.

The assessment period will only commence once the employer confirms that the apprentice consistently meets the standards set out in the occupational standard. The assessment process, which typically takes three months and is overseen by CIPD, consists of two components:

  • Work-based project and professional discussion
The apprentice will produce a report demonstrating the implementation of a learning and development solution to a real business problem they have encountered in their role. This is followed by a discussion with the assessor, where they will answer questions related to the project.
  • Presentation based on learning journal
The apprentice will deliver a presentation showcasing how they have applied the knowledge, skills, and behaviours gained throughout the programme. This presentation is supported by a learning journal compiled during the apprenticeship and is followed by a Q&A session with the assessor.

The combined score of these two components determines the final grade for the apprenticeship.
