Bootcamps

Launched by the UK Government in 2020, Skills Bootcamps are fast‑track, industry‑recognised training programmes designed to fill critical skills gaps and open exciting, in-demand career pathways , including self-employment and roles in creative trades.

These are fully funded for all eligible Worcestershire residents. 

Am I Eligible?

If you are aged 19 or above, live in Worcestershire, have not enrolled on another Skills Bootcamp after 1 August 2025, and have been residing in the UK (or wider EU) for at least three years, you are very well placed to be eligible for 100% government funding.

Below are the current bootcamps we are running. 

 

Plumbing Studies Level 2

Starts: 12th January 2026

Duration: 9 Weeks

Delivery: Monday – Friday, online and in-person learning

Designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently enter the plumbing sector.  

 This bootcamp helps you build competence across a wide range of plumbing tasks, while also developing your understanding of the principles that underpin domestic, industrial, and commercial plumbing. 

  • Introduction to Health and Safety in construction.
  • Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
  • Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
  • Common plumbing processes
  • Cold water systems
  • Domestic hot water systems
  • Sanitation
  • Central heating systems
  • Drainage systems
  • Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering
Painting and Decorating Level 2

Starts: 19th January 2026

Duration: 9 Weeks

Delivery: Monday – Friday, online and in-person learning

Designed to equip learners with the key knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently enter the painting and decorating sector. Learning techniques like surface preparation, brush and roller application, and decorative finishes. 

This course builds your competence across a wide range of essential painting and decorating tasks, helping you feel job-ready and capable. 

  • Introduction to Health and Safety in construction.
  • Preparing surfaces for decoration
  • Applying paint systems by brush and roller to complex areas
  • Applying standard papers to walls and ceilings
  • Producing specialist finishes for decorative work
  • Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms
  • Creating and applying colour
Painting and Decorating
Electrical Installations Level 2

Starts: 19th January 2026

Duration: 9 Weeks

Delivery: Monday – Friday, online and in-person learning

Designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently enter the electrical sector.  

 This course helps you build competence across a wide range of electrical installation and maintenance tasks, preparing you to step into the industry with confidence. 

  • Introduction to Health and Safety in construction.
  • Principles of Electrical Science
  • Electrical installations technology
  • Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
  • Understanding how to communicate with others within building services engineering
Construction Health and Safety Level 1

Starts: 2nd February 2026

Duration: 12 Days

Delivery: Monday – Thursday, online and in-person learning

Designed to instil a comprehensive understanding of the health, safety and sustainable practices that are critical in construction environments.  

Participants will learn to effectively identify and manage risks, ensuring the well-being of all stakeholders and minimising the environmental impact of projects.  

  • Introduction to Health and Safety in construction.
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Safety management systems and risks to health within a construction environment.
  • Plant and machinery safety.
  • Vehicle safety on construction sites.
  • Common signage within construction.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including asbestos awareness.
  • Working at heights.
  • Fire safety within construction.
  • Gas and electrical safety within construction.
  • Manual handling and ergonomics.
  • Sustainable practices within construction.
