How Sustainability is Shaping Career Paths – Reflections on Earth Day 2025

a footprint made of leaves

Tuesday 22nd April marked Earth Day 2025 – a moment to reflect, reconnect, and renew our commitment to a more sustainable future.

At GLP Training, we honoured this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet”, which resonated deeply with our values and our mission to empower learners with the skills needed to thrive in tomorrow’s workplace.

To celebrate, we sat down with our Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CRS) Tutor, Olu, for a special Earth Day video feature. Olu shared what Earth Day means to him, and how individuals – no matter their role or industry – can take steps toward creating lasting impact.

Watch the video with Olu, here:

In our conversation, Olu highlighted the growing demand for sustainability skills across all sectors. From corporate strategies to everyday decisions, sustainability is no longer a “nice-to-have” – it’s a must.

He also offered valuable insight into how our CRS Apprenticeship is continuously equipping professionals with the tools to embed ethical and environmentally conscious practices into their work. The apprenticeship is designed to give learners both the knowledge and confidence to lead meaningful change.

Why Sustainability Skills Matter More Than Ever

We’re seeing a shift. Employers are increasingly seeking candidates who not only understand the business landscape but also the environmental and social challenges that come with it. Roles in sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and corporate responsibility are expanding rapidly – and not just in traditional sectors like energy or conservation.

Sustainability is becoming a core function across departments – from construction and finance to HR and operations. Whether you’re managing supply chains, planning events, or developing products, sustainability is shaping the way we work and the decisions we make.

Our CRS Apprenticeship: Turning Awareness into Impact

Our Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Apprenticeship provides hands-on learning that’s both practical and impactful. Learners explore:

  • Environmental impacts and climate change

  • Responsible supply chains and procurement

  • Diversity, inclusion, and ethical practices

  • Corporate governance and sustainable leadership

As Olu puts it, this course empowers people to ask the right questions and build the kind of businesses the future needs.

At GLP Training, we believe that every day is an opportunity to act. Earth Day serves as a timely reminder that sustainability is not a one-time event, but an ongoing journey – and we’re proud to be guiding learners every step of the way.

If you’re looking to grow your career while making a difference, our CRS apprenticeship could be your next step.
